That Goals Thing
Posted by: | CommentsThank you for visiting JonClaytonBizBlog. Your comments and thoughts are encouraged! Be an active part of this blog. Thanks! -- Jon Clayton
As we start, let me make a short confession; I have not been real good at developing written goals over the past few years. I have been thinking about writing down my goals this year. So, I was thinking about where to find a goal setting form. I have several programs I have used in the past. I thought I would fish out some of them, and use the one that best suits me. Then I received an e-mail with a link. I followed the link thinking that it would probably have a cost attached to it. Brian Tracy has put out a well formatted PDF entitled, Write Your Flight Plan. It is absolutely free. You can go there and download it right now. I am going to use it today. I am so pleased with it. It is my intention to write out 3 goals this very day. Join me if you want to make 2010 a banner.
Much thanks to Brian Tracy!
BTW, in my opinion, Brian Tracy is among the very best business thinkers and teachers in the world. Pretty fair statement, eh?

The Common Denominator For Mastery And Success
Posted by: | Comments“A study by K. Anders Ericsson, which looked at musical prodigies, found the common denominator for mastery and success: 10,000 hours of practice. “The emerging picture from such studies,” says neurologist Daniel Levitin, “is that 10,000 hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated with being a world-class expert—in anything.” 10,000 hours is the equivalent of 20 hours a week for 10 years.”
Think about that for a moment; 10,000 hours of practice, properly invested, can make you or I a world-class expert in anything! It is a choice followed by committed action. Pretty simple. Not easy, but simple.

The Golden Hour
Posted by: | CommentsThe Golden Hour by Brian Tracy
You become what you think about most of the time. And the most important part of each day is what you think about at the beginning of that day.
* Start Your Day Right…..
Take 30 minutes each morning to sit quietly and to reflect on your goals. You’ll find when you read the biographies and autobiographies of successful men and women that almost every one of them began their upward trajectory to success when they began getting up early in the morning and spending time with themselves.
* Feed Your Mind with Positive Ideas….
This is called the Golden Hour. The first hour sets the tone for the day. The things that you do in the first hour prepare your mind and set you up for the entire day. During the first thirty to sixty minutes, take time to think and review your plans for the future.
* Use Your Quiet Time Effectively…..
Here are four things that you can do during that quiet time in the morning.
Number one is to review your plans for accomplishing your goals and change your plans if necessary.
Number two is to think of better ways to accomplish your goals. As an exercise, assume that the way you’re going about it is totally wrong and imagine going about it totally differently. What would you do different from what you’re doing right now?
Number three, reflect on the valuable lessons that you have learned and are learning as you move toward your goals.
Number four is to practice daily visualization. Calmly visualize your goal as a reality. Close your eyes, relax, smile, and see your goal as though it were already a reality. Rewrite your major goals every day in the present tense. Rewrite them as though they already existed. Write “I earn X dollars.” “I have a net worth of X.” “I weigh a certain number of pounds.” This exercise of writing and rewriting your goals every day is one of the most powerful you will ever learn.
* Fasten Your Seatbelt…..
Your life will start to take off at such a speed that you’ll have to put on your seatbelt. Remember, the starting point for achieving financial success is the development of an attitude of unshakable confidence in yourself and in your ability to reach your goals. Everything we’ve talked about is a way of building up and developing your belief system until you finally reach the point where you are absolutely convinced that nothing can stop you from achieving what you set out to achieve.
* Everything Counts…..
No one starts out with this kind of an attitude, but you can develop it using the law of accumulation. Everything counts. No efforts are ever lost. Every extraordinary accomplishment is the result of thousands of ordinary accomplishments that no one recognizes or appreciates. The greatest challenge of all is for you to concentrate your thinking single-mindedly on your goal and by the law of attraction, you will, you must inevitably draw into your life the people, circumstances and opportunities you need to achieve your goals.
* Become a Living Magnet….
Once you’ve mastered yourself and your thinking, you will become a living magnet for ideas and opportunities to become wealthy. It’s worked for me and for every successful person I know. It will work for you if you’ll begin today, now, this very minute, to think and talk about your dreams and goals as though they were already a reality. When you change your thinking, you will change your life. You will put yourself firmly on the road to financial independence.
* Action Exercises…..
Now, here are two things you can do every single day to keep your mind focused on your financial goals:
First, get up every morning a little bit earlier and plan your day in advance. Take some time to think about your goals and how you can best achieve them. This sets the tone for the whole day.
Second, reflect on the valuable lessons you are learning each day as you work toward your goals. Be prepared to correct your course and adjust your actions. Be absolutely convinced that you are moving rapidly toward your goals, no matter what happens temporarily on the outside. Just hang in there!

Rearview Mirrors
Posted by: | Comments
Do you have a rearview mirror in your vehicle? Pretty handy little device, eh? Very helpful to know what is going on behind you. That can keep you from danger. It is a very useful item in a car.
In life the same is true. We all have rearview mirrors in our head. We use it it review what has happened to us in the living of our lives.
Have you ever seen someone who seems to drive with one eye on the road and the other eye on the rearview mirror? Not a pretty picture…
The past is the past. We should review our lives on a regular basis. There is a lot of learning possible from this exercise. However, it is not good to keep one eye focused on the rearview mirror at all times.
Learn from the past. Deal with it. Then move on…![]()

Today Is The Time For Action
Posted by: | CommentsYou must be ready when opportunity comes before you. Luck is the time when your preparation and opportunity meet. There is a tide in your affairs, which, when taken at the flood, will lead you on to fortune and success. By the law of periodical repetition, everything which has happened once must happen again and again and again, not capriciously, but at regular periods, and each thing in it’s own period, and each obeying its own law. As events tend to repeat themselves, the tide of opportunity will come to you. Be prepared and your chance for success is sure to come. Look around you. Seize an opportunity to change your life. You can change chance into good fortune if you are ready. The only sure thing about your luck is that it will change.
Possibly the most important quality or skill you need to succeed at anything in life, whether it be getting in shape, excelling in your job, beating an illness or just plain being happy is a dogged commitment to doing it.
Your mind doesn’t have to be on autopilot. Thoughts don’t have to just pop into your head. You can control your thoughts. And when you do start to take control of your mind, your emotions and actions can be similar to the greatest successes the world has ever known.
The abundant life does not come to those who have had a lot of obstacles removed from their path by others. It develops from within and is rooted in strong mental and moral fiber.
And whatever you dwell upon, grows in your reality. You create your entire world by the things you choose to think about and how you choose to think about them.
The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today.
The true entrepreneur is a doer.

The Top Ten Things to Be Clear On Part 3

- The Top Ten Things to Be Clear On Part 2
- The Top Ten Things to Be Clear On Part 3
The Top Ten Things to Be Clear On
Clarity leads to success. These are the top ten things I think are worthy of you becoming and remaining clear upon.
Here they are in no order of priority . . .
8. Your Values
What do you really care about? What are your personal values? What are your company values?
Sound core values are the foundation of a truly successful life and business. By discovering and becoming acutely aware of your core values, you make decisions easier.

Invest the time to get clear on what you stand for. And then articulate it in a compelling fashion. In doing so, you’ll make it easier for people of like mind to find you and do business with you.
9. Obstacles and Constrictions
What stands in your way? What do you see as your biggest constraint? I will warn you that most of what you come up with will be excuses. Write them down anyway.
But dig deeper for the REAL challenge, the one—or ones—that aren’t so obvious. The ones you may not want to admit to at first.
Hint…….It’s rarely “out there”.
Unless you know what stands in your way, it will be hard to plan around or fight through an unknown enemy.
10. Your Strengths
Most people are well aware of their shortcomings, but not all that clear on their strengths. They focus far too much on improving what they’re not good at.
It’s much more productive to build on your strengths, to improve what you’re already good at than to to try to make up for perceived deficiencies.
What are YOUR strengths? What are you good at that you can leverage to your advantage. Invest some time into determining your strengths. Ask others what they see as you strongest assets. The answers may be quite different than you expect.
