What Makes A Leader Different?

What is it that makes leaders different? Can you possibly predict who will rise from follower status to becoming a recognized leader – someone who is widely accepted as a guru? Probably a lot of people figure that when you look at a leader, you see certainty and passion and enthusiasm. With those elements, a person inspires confidence in others. You probably don’t have a bunch of statistics to back it up, but I’ll bet you’ve noticed the same thing in your life. Man or woman, the person who exudes confidence is easy to follow. The person without it? You hardly even notice them.
To be an effective leader, you must have chosen a path you have very strong belief in. You need total certainty, because any doubt in your voice or in your actions comes through loud and clear to everyone who is looking at you. When you show the clear mental toughness to lead in one definite direction, then you have a real opportunity to gather followers. But if you are dispersed and can’t focus, then people will keep on looking for a leader.
It’s always surprising how many people look to others to guide them when, if they just Googled their question, they’d have an answer. A leader doesn’t expect or depend on others to do it for them. They choose a good example, then they figure it out and make it work. A leader entering unknown territory still doesn’t bat an eye. They do it anyway. This isn’t revolutionary. Every one of us learns to drive by driving. Success as a leader means you have a “think REALLY big” mindset, and then doing the necessary actions. A leader absolutely knows that they are the ONLY one responsible for their future, so they do the logical actions that will bring the results they want.

Be The Leader

Look around at who is successful in MLM, and you will see they are all leaders. The one way you can become a leader is to find someone who will follow your lead. The one way that can happen is if THEY consider you to be the guru who knows the success secret and will reveal it to them. Everybody wants a leader who truly believes. If you can mine your own bedrock core level of inner belief, it will amaze you how many people YOU can inspire. Network marketers will see you as a leader, because true motivational leaders are few and far between. For people to see you as a wizard in network marketing, all you need is true, inspiring, motivating belief.
Maybe you find yourself doubting whether you can be that leader. I understand. When you can’t find the way by yourself, how can you show it to others? The truth is, you are very, very close to being able to show that path to others … even if you aren’t quite sure of the footing yourself. You just need a few skills (and, of course, total belief). If you are coachable, and if you are willing to learn the skills, then YOU can be the star in your chosen MLM niche. YOU can be the hero or heroine, the one people turn to when they can’t do it themselves. You can be the hot leader for some group of people whose future depends on finding a model they can trust and follow. If you truly want success in network marketing, then you MUST become that strong leader.
We know it takes a leader to build a good MLM business. A leader must must have followers. People will only follow you if they see in you an unwavering belief that you can help them be successful. You have to dig down to develop that believe and work to get rid of your inner doubt and conflicts. That’s the problem. You’ve gotten used to to and become comfortable with some negative belief. In a way, it’s benefitting you, and probably at the expense of a lot of other people. At the same time, there’s a fight for your soul, a battle you can never win. While that war goes on, it’s pretty darned hard for you to get gung-ho about anything. So how do you find and harness the good, pure belief you really need in order to lead a large group to network marketing success? Hard to believe, it’s simple. I didn’t say “easy”, but it is simple. Hopes And Dreams Gone Astray…

I bet that from the start, you were thinking about your family. Time was going by, and it seemed like you were spending less and less quality time together. The bills got bigger, you had to work a lot harder to make ends meet. When you first found network marketing, it seemed like the answer to a prayer. Believe me, a lot of people know that feeling.
And then some MLM expert came into your life, to help you achieve your dreams. What they said sure sounded good. Fire your boss, work for yourself, make your own hours, go to your kids’ school plays or sporting events instead of working overtime, take your family on exotic vacations, spend your life with the most engaging and successful people. It’s hard to imagine even now that those successful people drained your wallet dry and then dumped you.
It was the freedom that was most important, not the money. Unfortunately, the people who were leading you on really wanted the money. Yours, actually. And you trusted them because of their track record. You thought they’d help you reach financial freedom, because that would benefit them. The problem was, the way those guys got the good things in life was by fleecing people, not by building them.
So what do you do now? Your dreams haven’t changed. Plus, now you have a bigger hole to climb out of. We’ll talk about how to get what you want right here. Hope you find it useful.

It Was A Great Idea, Wasn’t It?
Posted by: | CommentsIt started out as a terrific idea, didn’t it? Your intentions were pure. You just wanted to provide everything your family had never had. You really wanted more time to spend with each of them. And you wanted to help others just like you to be more successful. How could a beautiful idea like that go so bad?
Then you ran into a “Heavy Hitter,” and you made the big blunder. When they told you to believe in them, to put your faith in them, to trust them … you did. In that moment, you thought you were on your way to financial freedom, to giving your family all those things they so richly deserved. But then, over time, it went very, very wrong.
It was the freedom you really wanted, not the money. Unfortunately, the people who were leading you on really wanted the money. Yours, in fact. And you trusted them because of their track record. You thought they’d guide you to financial freedom, because that would benefit them. The problem was, the way those guys got the good things in life was by fleecing people, not by building them.
My bet is, after licking your wounds, you’re figuring it’s time to wake up from this bad dream, get to work, and really achieve those goals you want so much. I’ve been through this myself. I can help you. That’s what this blog is all about. Come back and see.

Is There An Easy Way To $$$?

Well, the truth is that there is an easier way to make money and build a business than what most people are doing and being taught to do - but the fact is that you are not being told how it’s done.
Let’s identify the HARD way first so you know what to stop doing and what to avoid; and then I’ll show you what the EASY way is:
The hard way is simply doing what most people do - offer their prospects their business opportunity the FIRST time they connect with them. Another way to say it is - leading with your opportunity in the first interaction you have with your prospect.
Now, you may say “That’s how you are supposed to build a business and get business builders, right? Why would you NOT offer your opportunity to a prospect the first time you connect with them?”
Well, this is true AND false - as there are no shortages of network marketing opportunities, and if people REALLY want an opportunity - they will go search and find one on their own in their own time WITHOUT needing some MLM rep to convince them to join THEIR business!
You just need to make sure that YOU are positioned correctly so when they look they find YOU!
So, if that’s the hard way - then what’s the EASY way?
The easy way is to NOT do what the masses are doing - but to lead with things OTHER than just your network marketing opportunity.
Things that prospects want, need, and are paying good money for NOW that can help them operate a successful network marketing business. You feed their IMMEDIATE need and offer something of value first BESIDES your opportunity.
Things like EFFECTIVE marketing training, resources, business tools, education, information, content, etc. Companies and opportunities come and go, but these things are ALWAYS in demand!
This creates trust and credibility between you and your prospects because you fed their immediate need, AND you did NOT shove your opportunity down their throat like EVERY OTHER MLM rep does.
This pays you money FIRST even before someone looks at your opportunity (adding additional income to your efforts) AND connects that prospect with YOU!
Then, that prospect will come back to YOU and ask YOU what your opportunity is, and want to work with you because you gave them what they wanted FIRST without trying to sell them on your business. Also, if you set up a proper follow up email sequence, they will continuously be connected to you and will take your recommendations and follow you into your business.

Some Thoughts About Leads

What makes you successful at network marketing? Or better yet, what is the biggest difference between your success and your failures as a network marketer?
The answer to this question just might surprise you.
Did you ever think that the quality of leads plays a dominant role to your bottom line?
Let’s take a look.
I’m quite sure that most people who venture into the world of network marketing are instructed by their sponsors to buy and call leads in the recruiting process. The end up buying leads a spending countless hours everyday following up with those leads to no avail.
On the other hand, there are marketers that never buy leads and still have their network marketing business grow every single day. Their business just seems to grow on auto-pilot.
With these two approaches to marketing, why is there such a large difference?
Let’s consider a few things.
When you run your network marketing business, it is sound practice to be and stay in control. But guess what? When you buy leads you surrender a considerable amount of control.
The way it works when you purchase leads from a lead company, you are placed on auto ship at a set price per month. With this arrangement you are sent a monthly batch of leads like clockwork.
To some degree, this is comforting at first because it sets a regular schedule in your business. You automatically know that at a certain time each month, you will be receiving X number of leads to contact and follow up with.
But think about this for a second.
Do you know where precisely these leads come from? You can probably assume these leads have an interest in network marketing to some extent but besides that, you really don’t know how qualified these leads are or where they came from.
You really don’t know in what manner these leads were generated, what form they had to complete or how many people to which these particular leads were distributed.
Not knowing this information can leave you a little less equipped to properly gauge their expectations. Also, if your lead company should go out of business you could be swept into a tailspin to find another lead company to do business with that has a totally different system for purchasing leads for which you have to get accustomed.
So if you stop buying leads, your only other option is to generate leads yourself.
Agreed, this is extra work on your part but any lead you generate yourself will be far superior to those you buy.
Why?
It comes down to that whole concept of control. Why you start generating your own leads you know much more about that lead. You know precisely where the lead came from an to what manner that lead was generated.
A great benefit to generating your own leads is they are your leads exclusively. In addition they already know who you are which means following up with them is much more personal. Also you are aware of what designs they had on a network marketing business. Keep in mind they opted in to learn more about your business opportunity, not that of someone else.
Generating your own leads is something that is very powerful. It helps you to maintain control in your business. You should never under estimate its worth to your business and the ability to increase your chances of network marketing success.

Marketing Insanity - A True Case
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s worth your time to take a look at the section on “Marketing Insanity” on page 17 of the Success In 10 Steps ebook by Michael Dlouhy. I was talking with a husband-and-wife on a 3-way call the other day. They’re in a company selling water filters. Their basic product is a $4,000 sale.
And they tell me, “But you can buy it over time!”
Boy! Hope springs eternal in network marketers, doesn’t it? They KNOW they can make this thing work. “Heck, they can buy it over time. This’ll work.”
So here’s the deal, which is what I told them:
“FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS?!!!!!!!”
Are you kidding me? You HAVE to be a salesperson. You HAVE to be a salesperson to do that. A $4,000 product is a sales business. They can call it network marketing if they want, but let me ask you a question:
Does your new rep go on autoship for $4,000 a month?
I didn’t think so.
Here’s what I told them:
“Success In 10 Steps is a great tool, but it won’t work for you. You can’t use this ebook to find people who’ll spend $4K. Our system is perfect to build a relationship business, but that’s not what you have … you have a SALES business. You need to run ads to find salespeople.”
Again, it’s a $4,000 product. And THEY bought it, because it’s something they really believe in and they wanted. But they are the exception. You need REALLY targeted leads to sell that product. You sure as heck aren’t going to buy MLM leads and sell any $4,000 water filters. There’s no way you can recruit those people, because they won’t buy the product.
There was a time when it was pretty standard in MLM to advertise for salespeople, but not so much anymore. Traditionally, salespeople haven’t done that well in network marketing, for a lot of reasons. Most of all, salespeople can’t train anyone to do what they do, and so what they do is not duplicatable.
What you want in network marketing is a lot of people, with each one doing a little bit. That is the model that works. You can build a big business with that model.
The standard for MLM has always been lotions and potions and vitamins. Outstanding nutritionals & personal care products that get raved about and used up and bought over and over. That is the type of product that creates residual income.
And I would go so far as to say that any product that doesn’t create residual income - people on autoship who buy automatically every month - is NOT an MLM product.
Feel free to argue if you want. But the #1 reason for doing MLM is to create an income that goes on whether you are working or not. And that ONLY happens with people on autoship.
It’s simple. No autoship = No network marketing.
That water filter customer never goes on autoship. So not only is there NO residual income, but you also must be a pretty good salesperson to sell a $4,000 product.
I’m not a salesperson. I cannot do it. Almost everybody out there cannot do it. Can you work and work and work and find someone who can?
Sure. That business has been going for awhile. Here and there, they find a salesperson. But man, what a tough way to build a business.
So it’s really helpful to know where this stuff is in the ebook because when that topic comes up - and it will - you need to be able to direct people to the source that explains their situation. That’s way better than you trying to do it yourself.

Your MLM Prospect Has An Employee Mindset
Posted by: | CommentsI saw a comment from a successful internet marketer this week that I think is very important to consistently remind yourself of.
Almost everybody we talk to about network marketing is an employee. They come from an employee mindset. Very few are actually business owners.
The employee mindset is: “OK. I really want to be successful on my own. I don’t want to have a boss. I want to make more money. What do I do?”
The employee mindset is NOT: “OK. I’m going to work this out for myself and come up with my own business plan.”
And the point this guy was making is, the most important word when you are talking to a prospect is “system.”
Let me repeat that. Heck, let me SCREAM that.
THE MOST IMPORTANT WORD WHEN YOU ARE TALKING TO A PROSPECT IS:
SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM!
You’ve got to give them a step-by-step system. They have to see a system that can work for them. You have to show them how it has worked for others, and you have to show them, step-by-step, exactly what they will do with it.
But it’s more than just that. Your prospect not only has the opportunity to use a system that is tested and proven to work, but they also have the opportunity to talk to their prospects about that tested, proven system … which every prospect needs and wants. It’s really important. That is exactly what this guy is talking about.
You need to hammer prospects about the system. I mean, REALLY hammer them on this. Most prospects think, “Oh, this company has a great product. That’s what I need.” Or, “Oh, I’m personally sponsored by the heavy hitter. That’s what I need.” Or, “It’s been proven that this compensation plan pays out 80%, and over 90% of the people who use it are successful.”
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
Most prospects need to use the Success In 10 Steps ebook by Michael Dlouhy to have success, but some won’t. Everybody knows that a new person needs a tested, proven system to start with. If you can find a better, tested proven system, fine. We’ve used this one for 4 years, and it constantly produces the targeted leads we want.
That’s what those with the “employee mindset” need more than anything … good prospects to talk to. Just getting a few really targeted prospects a week can change their lives.
System? Yes. Use it. And talk to your prospects about it. Believe me, they know they need it.
